Service Management

FFastFill’s comprehensive approach to service management encompasses the software, systems and processes necessary to enable FFastFill to contract to a Service Level Agreement with its clients. At the heart of this capability is FFastFill’s service management system.

This system has been designed into all aspects of the service from the outset rather than added on as an afterthought. In this way each service characteristic (eg performance, security, availability) has been built into each of the component parts of the service (eg data centre, network, servers, storage). With FFastFill this design approach has been applied to both the service delivery platform and to the application software.

To facilitate this approach to comprehensive monitoring and management, FFastFill have built a high availability service management system, which receives information from the monitoring points within the FFastFill service and, in real time, produces trend analysis reports and, if pre-set thresholds are breached, system alarms.

The system uses a standard messaging system allowing customers to integrate this within their in-house service management if desired. Using this capability, predetermined fault escalation processes can be coded into the system , and advance warnings can be given if utilisation levels indicate the need for additional resources (eg bandwidth, server, storage, code module replication).

Key Benefits

  • Comprehensive pro-active management of the total service as part of an integrated design
  • Pre-determined fault escalation processes can be 'coded' into the system
  • Advance warnings given if resource utilisation trends indicate the need for additional resources (e.g. more bandwidth, server power, storage, code module replications)
  • Standard messaging system enables clients to integrate application level service monitoring into their in-house service management capability

Major Features

  • High-availability service management capability
  • Based around HP OpenView, Alarm Point and proprietary FFastFill system control applications.
  • Designed to be fully resilient to component failure
  • Exploits Microsoft software management platforms
  • Service performance and status information is made available for realtime access by the customer via a secure, customised, web portal
  • Real time trend analysis with reports and system alarms if pre-set thresholds are exceeded
  • Combined polling and action-oriented methodology is used for reports and alarms
  • SNMP repository for network and server performance measurements and conditions
  • Monitoring information from the core of the platform is delivered every 30 seconds
